(FREDERICTON, NB) Julia Diemert is ready to take a huge step.
“Coming to play at UNB is a huge stepping stone in my journey,” says the talented 5’11” middle.
Diemert has signed a CIS Letter of Intent and will join the Varsity Reds women’s volleyball team, in September.
Jilliane Portelli is hoping Diemert’s huge step leads to big things for the Varsity Reds.
“Julia’s an incredible athlete,” says the UNB head coach. “She is full of positivity, energy and work ethic.”
Diemert comes to Fredericton with an impressive volleyball resume.
A current member of the Aurora Storm Tsunami 18U team, Diemert is a past recipient of the Ontario Volleyball Award of Excellence.
From Egbert, Ontario, just outside of Barrie, Diemert was a member of the Barrie Elites Black club for three seasons.
In 2015, she was named the MVP at the prestigious Georgian College Senior Girls Volleyball Tournament.
“Ever since the moment I stepped on campus, I have not been able to forget about the people,” says Diemert. “I belong here, with this team.”
While Diemert is eager to begin her career at UNB, the Varsity Reds are thrilled to have have her. “We are extremely excited to have her joining our program,” says Coach Portelli.
Julia Diemert will join the Varsity Reds for the 2016-17 season.
