(FREDERICTON, NB) Nick Zildjan is coming home.
The University of New Brunswick alumnus has been hired as the Varsity Reds Marketing and Special Events Manager.
“Joining the Varsity Reds is exciting for me,” says Zildjan, who earned a Kinesiology Degree, in 2001. “I have been a loyal and passionate fan of the program since my undergrad days at UNB.”
“To have the opportunity to work in an environment that is so focused and team oriented, it’s where I belong.”
Zildjan brings a wealth of marketing and special events knowledge to the Varsity Reds.
He’s a co-founder of the FredRock Music Festival, and spent the past seven years as its producer. In that role, he developed and managed sponsorship arrangements, coordinated talent, and marketed the event.
For more than a decade, he owned and operated a well-known Fredericton club, where he honed his marketing and management skills.
“Fan and customer experience is something I’m truly dedicated to,” says Zildjan. “Seeing ideas come to life, with a positive response, is what I live for.”
“We’re very excited to have Nick joining the Varsity Reds,” says John Richard, UNB’s Director of Athletics.
“Nick’s experience in marketing and promotions are well known, throughout the Maritimes, and are just what we were looking for.”
Zildjan will succeed David Morell, who is retiring at the end of March.
Morell has been the Varsity Reds Marketing and Special Events Manager since 2001.
“I am honoured to take the reigns from Dave,” says Zildjan. “He has done an amazing job with the program, and I am looking forward to working with him.”
Morell and Zildjan will work together, until the end of March, to ensure a seemless transition.
Nick Zildjan officially joins the Varsity Reds on Monday, February 22nd.
